Additional Area Programs

Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Distributions

Feeding South Dakota's mission is to end hunger in South Dakota.

Next food distribution dates:

They are always the 4th Wednesday of the month unless it is posted on this website. (bad weather, holiday or some natural disaster)

De Smet - at 12pm to 1pm on Wilder Lane next to Washington City Park

Arlington - at 9am to 10am at the United Methodist Church

Lake Preston - at 10:30am to 11:30am at the United Methodist Church

We want to stress that we do not want anyone to get out of their vehicle. We will direct people when it is safe to pull forward. We will load the vehicle and send them on their way.

Once you are in line BEFORE you are directed to advance to the pick up zone. Open your own trunk or backseat. They will NOT load the front seat.

Also, (& this is unbelievable that I have to point this out) clean out your vehicle! They will not touch the items in your car. If there is no room, they will not load your vehicle. You will be directed to remove yourself from the line so you do not hold it up for others. You will have to go home, clean your trunk or backseat, and come back at the end of the line.

Senior Box Information

Would you like a senior box? It is a FREE box of food that you can pick up from the Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Distribution in DeSmet on the 4th Wednesday of each month, or the Kingsbury County Food Pantry one of the following two Tuesdays if you are 60 or older and you meet the income guidelines.

To apply for the box, you must come to the Kingsbury County Food Pantry,or call Robyn. We will get an application for you to fill out & sign. If you qualify, you will be added to the Senior Box Program list. Once you're added to the list, simply go to the DeSmet Feeding SD food giveaway & when they are loading your car tell them you also get a senior box. If you miss the giveaway simply go to the Kingsbury County Food Pantry on one of the next two Tuesdays.

The senior box includes juice, cereal, veggies, fruit, a meat entree, rice, milk, peanut butter, oatmeal, and other items (even a 3 pound block of cheese). Best of all, it's free for those who qualify.

Robyn will work with you to answer any questions. It is a simple process.
